How We Started

Sara and Marcy met on a Saturday morning in 2024. Sara was teaching a gardening class at the local library and also at the Farmer’s Market. After the class, Marcy approached Sara to inquire about volunteering to help market the Farmer’s Market.

Very quickly, the two became friends and business partners. Sara, with her lifelong homesteading knowledge, and Marcy, with her 25 years of marketing, joined forces to create the Hoosier Homestead Studio, an online education and community.

Sara Anliker

Sara is a third-generation homesteader raised in a family where gardening, raising livestock, and preserving food were simply part of everyday life. Those early roots shaped her deep belief that healthy soil, real food, and practical skills are the foundation of lasting wellness.

She continues this lifestyle for both health and simplicity, choosing sustainable living over complicated systems and expensive products. Sara is passionate about helping others
rediscover that vibrant health begins with the basics — nutrient-dense food, thriving gardens, and time-tested home practices.

As a natural mentor, she is often sought out for guidance in gardening, soil health, food preservation, healthy eating, and simple homeopathic remedies. Her approach is grounded and accessible, empowering individuals to build confidence and resilience one skill at a time.

Sara’s mission is to equip others with sustainable skills that can be passed down for generations — because homesteading isn’t about perfection, it’s about stewardship, strength, and living well.
